Ather’s Electric Bike Launch Delayed, But Quality Will Be Key

Ather’s much-awaited electric bike is still in the works, but it’s going to take a little longer than expected. The company first announced plans for the bike back in 2019, but due to the pandemic and the growing popularity of electric scooters, the focus has shifted. Ather’s CEO, Tarun Mehta, says the bike will likely launch in 2-3 years. He wants to wait and see how the electric motorcycle market in India develops.

Right now, there are only a few companies making electric bikes similar to the ones Ather plans to produce. Even though the market for electric motorcycles isn’t growing as fast as electric scooters, it’s starting to look more promising with companies like Revolt, Oben, and Ultraviolette joining the scene.

Ather isn’t in a rush to be the first to launch its e-bike like it was with its electric scooters. Instead, the company is focused on creating a well-designed and reliable product. This approach has worked well for its scooters, and the same philosophy will apply to the upcoming bike.

The launch is also expected to align with the opening of Ather’s new factory in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, by 2027. This new facility will play a big role in developing Ather’s new vehicles, including the electric bike.

While Ather’s e-bike may take a few more years to arrive, the company is making sure it gets everything right. This will give them time to see how other brands, like Ola and Honda, perform in the electric motorcycle market and make any necessary adjustments. In the end, Ather’s electric bike will be known for its consistent quality, which is important for Indian customers.
