Greaves Cotton Unveils Ampere Reo 80: Affordable Electric Scooter Targets New Riders

Mumbai, April 9, 2025: Greaves Cotton has jolted India’s electric two-wheeler market with the launch of the Ampere Reo 80, a budget-friendly electric scooter priced at just ₹59,900. Branded as “Electric for Everyone,” this entry-level ride is designed to appeal to students, seniors, and first-time riders, requiring no license or registration—a game-changer for accessibility in the EV space.

The Ampere Reo 80 boasts a practical 80 km range on a single charge, powered by a lightweight LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery. It comes equipped with modern perks like keyless start and an LCD instrument cluster, blending affordability with convenience. Greaves Cotton’s move taps into the swelling demand for cost-effective electric options, underscored by the company’s reported 52% surge in EV sales this year.

“This isn’t just a scooter—it’s a step toward making electric mobility inclusive,” a Greaves spokesperson said at the launch. With the Reo 80, the company aims to electrify everyday commutes for a broader audience, riding the wave of India’s accelerating shift to sustainable transport. As affordable EVs gain traction, the Reo 80 could spark a new current in the market.
